Apparently I Have a Problem

Jessie hates my undergarments.  I never really cared because he usually prefers me naked anyway.  This weekend, he became VERY vocal…….about my Mommy Panties.  You see, Mommy Panties are just a step up from Granny Panties.  Mommy Panties are old, cotton rags with no elastic left in them that basically hang off your butt with little strings dangling around your legs.  They may look atrocious, but they are convenient and comfortable.  My husband hates my Mommy Panties.  You see, when we first got together I had MANY coordinating bra and panty sets that were lacy, silky, satiny, and very sexy.  As the seven years have wore on, the sexy stuff started going away and being replaced with the comfortable stuff.  As self-esteem started dying, there was a sense of feeling ridiculous in pretty frilly undergarments.  Well Jessie has had enough and has launched a full scale attack on the Mommy Panties.  I was forced, against my will, to purchase the pretty and the lacy this weekend.  I was forced to buy things that a pretty person would wear.  And you know what?  I missed it.  I’ve got to get out of this funk that I’ve been in and out of for about 5 years.  Will lace and bras that make it look like I have cleavage be a good start?

Oh, Lukas. You Make Mommy Laugh

We went to dinner last night and really enjoyed ourselves.  Lukas was doing his "I’M SO HAPPY TO BE OUT IN PUBLIC SO PEOPLE CAN SEE HOW CUTE I AM" scream, and Jessie and I were having great, easy conversations.  Lukas, in particular, was having a blast.  We got him a shopping cart cover that also serves as a high chair cover so when we take him out in public, we don’t have to worry about any public skankies getting on his little tushy.  This thing has little toys on it to keep him occupied as well as cushioning to keep him comfortable.  We all love it.

Lukas was being such a little terror last night to our waitress that I couldn’t help but be proud.  He kept trying to grab her pen while she was writing.  Tried to hold her hand when she was giving us plates, tried to grab the plates she was taking away, and tried to grab at her apron.  He’s just in the grabby phase and when I would see him do this, I would hold his little hands down until the waitress went away, but I couldn’t catch every time, and I think the waitress was getting annoyed.  She was a young girl and not very impressed with the cuteness of Lukas.  It occurred to me for like 10 seconds that maybe I am not doing a good enough job of making sure my child behaves in public, and then I remembered, oh yeah, he’s only 8 months old.  He just loves to grab things.  I like that he is curious and aware of his surroundings.  The waitress was trying to be patient and she wasn’t at all snotty, which was good.  Little girls need to learn early not to incite the wrath of a mommy.  My baby is cute.  Period.
