No, But I Have This….
Aschlie,
I’ve never made butter rum before. I’ve never even had it before, but I know you would use a dark spiced rum and them I guess you would add some cinnamon and nutmeg. A lot of recipes might not call for it, bit a little pinch of ground cloves always adds a nice dark spice to everything. I have this recipe from a cookbook I have that specializes in holiday recipes and I haven’t found a bad recipe in here yet. Our week of decadence every Christmas is pretty much right out of this cookbook. I figure you can maybe try comparing the spice mixture in this recipe with the ones you have seen online.
Hot Buttered Cider
1/3 cup packed brown sugar
1/4 cup butter or margarine, softened (USE BUTTER DAMMIT)
1/4 cup honey
1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
Apple cider or juice
1. Beat sugar, butter, honey, cinnamon and nutmeg until well blended and fluffy. Place butter mixture in tightly covered container. Refrigerate up to 2 weeks. Bring butter mixture to room temperature before using.
2. To serve, heat apple cider in large saucepan over medium heat until hot. Fill individual mugs with hot apple cider; stir in 1 tablespoon batter per one cup apple cider.
Makes 12 servings
I know this is basically worthless, but maybe it helps? If you want recipes for ANYTHING festive, please ask. I love swapping recipes. Stephanie, remember when we used to do that every Wednesday? I still love that hominy stew.

I went to the liquor store on Saturday and found the greatest thing, lol. When I went in, the boy asked me if I was looking for something in particular. I told him I was looking for rum. He was like, “Dark or light? Spiced?” I had written down some names I found online from people who were just posting their favorite. One was called Sailor Jerry. It’s 92 proof, lol. Then I told him I was wanting to make buttered rum. He was like, “Oh…well we carry buttered rum stuff for like bars.” I thought it was perfect at least to try. So I bought it. Yesterday I wanted to try some while I was watching Christmas movies, lol…so I made it. I put whipped cream on top of it. O….M….G….It was awesome. I couldn’t even taste the rum…which is good because I had takedn a small swig of it to see what it tasted like and it burned my nose hair when i put the bottle to my lips, lol. This mix stuff was really good. It’s the butter mixture already premade. It makes it kind of throfty (I don’t even know if that is the word I meant to say…but kind of foamy). The whipped cream on top was really good too. I think you should try it. You will probably make it yourself, lol…but for me, this way is easy and I can make it in the microwave….PERFECT FOR ME! hehehehe

LOL! Yup, all to yourself. And the word is “frothy” not “throfty”, but that provided a good laugh. It soudns good, but during Christmas, my drink of choice is a white cosmopolitan. So festive, so good, and two of them light me like a friggin candle.

LOL….you know, I knew that wasn’t the word, but after I posted the comment, I spent all night thinking, “Damn…what’s the word I am looking for????” So now I can put that thought behind me, lol. I was close, though, LOLOL!
