I Guess It’s Meant to Be
Last night I made a big turkey dinner to celebrate the finalizing of our decision to move back East. All three of us were sitting there enjoying the turkey when I realized that this was the first time in WEEKS that Lukas stayed chilled and actually ATE what was put in front of him. He ate a huge piece of turkey. It was the first dinner at home in a very long time where he wasn’t carried away from the table n the middle of a screaming tantrum because he’s a butthole and doesn’t like to eat at the table. He prefers to eat on the run.
Last night, though, was great. The only sound to be heard was the nummy sucking sounds coming from Lukas’ face as he ate his turkey meat. It was the first calm and pleasant dinner this family has had in a while. It’s like all the stars aligned just right and there was no other way to be except perfect.
Aside from the bickering between Jessie and I over the details of our move, there’s no news. Last night after two white wine spritzers, I was relaxing on the couch and realized that I haven’t felt this relaxed in AGES. It was nice until Lukas came bounding over to me wanting to play. I was all like, “I’m impaired here! CANNOTFUNCTION!!!” And yes, it was all in one word like that. I’m smooth when I’m snoggered.

I agree with Helen! He never cries or screams, lol…he’s always smiling
I was just telling Shelley that I can’t wait until you move over here so then I can more road trips! She’s not thrilled with the idea that I will be going to Pa AND to see you, LOL! But I am going anyhow

Shhh……but Jessie and I are looking in PA at homes now. Granted it close to Philadelphia and is still a long drive, but there you have it.

Anywhere is closer than you are now, LOL! I could do a trip to Helen’s for a day or two and then drive on up to see you too! All in 1 trip! I’m excited, LOL!
Oh…I am looking in to something right now, and I want your opinion. I’m looking in to becoming a Foreign Service Officer (http://careers.state.gov/officer/index.html). What do you think? Crazy?

A little crazy..yeah. I think the biggest factor you have to keep in mind is the fact that you will be away from family, friends, and other loved ones for extended periods of time. Also, terrorists just LOVE to target embassies. In the end, it’s your decision, and you know I will stand behind whatever decision you make 100%, but take it from me when I say that it is VERY hard to be far away from a support group. What exactly is your reason for wanting this position? Surely it’s not something simple like wanting to get out or seeing other countries because, sugar plum…there are other ways to do that and not put your ass so obviously on the line. If it’s for a greater good or diplomacy, then I can’t argue except to say RED CROSS. My opinion, obviously, is biased and sucks.

Actually, I like the idea of working with politics anyway I can. I don’t REALLY want to be so far away, but I am willing to go away for awhile to get back closer at a higher position (in DC). It would look really good on paper later on in life if I decided to do something different too. It’s just something I am looking into right now. There are like 5 different positions. There is a position that is strictly dealing with politics of whatever country, but then there is a position that I would go and talk to US citizens in jail and make sure they have council and also make decisions on which person applying for US visas would make it over here. That actually sounds better than the political part (because like you said, that part would be really dangerous sometimes!). It just looked interesting…there are tests and shit like that to even get in, but I’m still researching everything right now
